Zapier integration (Basic): Connect, make a Zap, disconnect
With Zapier integration, you can sync TaxDome contacts with your favorite apps, so your data stays up to date without entering it twice. Just make updates in one place and all connected apps will be updated automatically.
Tip! We've already created Zapier templates of popular integrations with TaxDome. Please check the TaxDome Integration page on Zapier.
Zapier, explained
Zapier allows two applications that don't have native integration to interact with each other through triggers. TaxDome supports Zapier, so the application you want to integrate with TaxDome through Zapier should also support it. To check compatibility, visit the Apps Zapier page, add a connection to it and see their triggers.
Zap is a connection between two applications. We will demonstrate Zap creation using the example of TaxDome and Google Spreadsheet integration, but your integration may be different. The main thing is to understand the two-part logic: you set a trigger (a condition) and when it is met, a certain action takes place.
- Deleted Contact: This triggers integration when a contact is deleted from TaxDome.
- New Contact: This triggers integration when a new contact is created on TaxDome.
- Updated Contact: This triggers integration when a contact is updated on TaxDome.
- Create contact. This will create a contact when the trigger is activated.
- Update contact. This will update a contact when the trigger is activated.
- Find contact. This will find contacts that match the search terms. If the contact isn't found, it can be created.
Tip! For Create contact and Update contact actions the "Tag" filed is available. You can specify only tags existing in your account TaxDome. If a contact already has two tags, and through Update contact in Zapier a third tag is specified, the system will overwrite it.
Connect to Zapier
Only a firm owner or admin can connect the account with Zapier.
1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations from the sidebar menu.
2. Go to the Zapier tab.
3. Click Connect.
4. Log in to your Zapier account, then accept the invite to use the TaxDome app on Zapier.
To complete the TaxDome integration with Zapier, you should make the first Zap.
Make a Zap
1. Click plus at the top left, then Create and select Zaps from the opened drop-down menu.
2. On the opened page, click Untitled Zap and Rename. Name your Zap short but clearly, e.g., Add New Contact to Google Spreadsheet.
3. Click Select the event that starts your Zap. Type TaxDome in the search bar and click on it to select. You can select any other application from the list.
4. In the left sidebar, select an event that will be used as a trigger. For example, you have a Google spreadsheet with all your contacts. You want it to update automatically whenever you add a new contact to TaxDome. In this case, you would select the New contact.
5. Connect your TaxDome account.
6. Click Continue.
7. Skip testing your trigger and click Select the event for your Zap to run.
8. Select the app that you want to create a connection with. Select the app in the list (e.g., Google Sheets) or type its name in the search bar and click on it to select.
9. In the left sidebar, select an event (e.g., Create Spreadsheet Row).
10. Connect your Google account.
11. Click Continue.
12. Select the drive, spreadsheet and worksheet you would like to be automatically updated.
13. For the spreadsheet, prepare the columns' titles, then map them with the fields used in TaxDome to add new contacts by clicking plus at the far right and selecting the appropriate fields.
14. Click Continue.
15. Test your integration. Values from step #13 will appear in the spreadsheet.
16. Click Publish and wait for the popup that tells you that the integration was successful.
The integration status (on or off) will be displayed on the My Zaps page.
Now, all the contacts you add to TaxDome will also be added to your Google spreadsheet.
Disconnect from Zapier
Note! Once you have disconnected, all your existing Zapier connections that use the TaxDome app will stop working
1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations from the sidebar menu.
2. Go to the Zapier tab.
3. Click Revoke.
