Installation-related issues with the TaxDome Windows app
I’m getting the “Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting” error message
Wondering why you weren’t able to install the TaxDome Windows application and got this error message? Sometimes Windows 10 doesn’t recognize an app, even if it’s signed by the developer. When the SmartScreen blocks an app, you can still bypass it by clicking on More info, then the Run Anyway option. If there is no Run anyway option to click, this can still be fixed.
The fix: Go to App & browser control (either from your Start menu or System settings), then under Check apps and files, select the Warn option. You will now have the Run anyway option and will be able to start the TaxDome Windows application. Plus, there is an additional way to fix this error.
You can also right-click the TaxDome_Setup.exe installer file, select the Properties option, select the Unblock checkbox at the bottom, and then click Apply. The protection will then be disabled, and you’ll be able to install the application.

My TaxDome drive is running slow or doesn’t work
If you’re experiencing performance issues with TaxDome drive or you’re unable to use it, this is likely because you’re using an outdated version of the TaxDome Windows app.
We’ve recently updated TaxDome drive to speed up uploading and navigating between folders (the old WebDAV version is no longer supported).
The fix:

This ensures that the speed improvements from the latest update are applied. Go to Add or remove programs (either from your Start menu or System settings ), search for Dokan, click Uninstall, follow the instructions on your screen, and then reboot your PC.
Step 2. Update the TaxDome Windows app with the latest version.
Open the TaxDome Windows App, click Yes, restart & update in the notification window to download and install. Alternatively, download the latest version from your portal.

If you’re getting this error message when trying to send your file to the TaxDome App using the TaxDome printer, download and install the PDF Creator app component.

I'm getting the MFP initializing error
If you are using Windows 10 and getting an error while initializing MFP (multi-functional printer), this may be due to the Windows 10 issue with printers. Microsoft is aware of the issue and will release an update for Windows 10 that will fix the problem.
In the meantime, you can fix the issue by installing the optional update.

I cannot open .QBW Files in the TaxDome Windows app
- I’m getting the “Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service” error message
- I’m getting the QuickBooks code “-6189, -816” error message
I’m getting the “Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service” error message
If you see this message while trying to open a .qbw file, follow these steps:
1. Temporarily disable the antivirus program on your computer, then open the file to check if this solved the problem. If the error no longer appears, move on to the next step.
2. Add the application to the list of your antivirus program exceptions, then reenable it.
Tip: If you’re using a McAfee antivirus program, disable the real-time scanning feature.
I’m getting the QuickBooks code “-6189, -816” error message
If you get this one while opening a .qbw file, do this:
1. Close the QuickBooks application.
2. Download and install the actual version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
3. In the QuickBook Tool Hub, select Program Problems, then select Quick Fix My Program .
4. Open the .QBW file.
I’m getting the “File size exceeds the limit allowed and cannot be saved” error message
If you’re getting this error message while trying to download a file via TaxDome drive, you’ll need to change your registry settings:
Attention! Before making any change in the Registry Editor, make sure you have created a system restore point or made a backup of your Registry files.
1. Press Win+R, type regedit, then hit the enter button on your keyboard to open the Registry Editor, then navigate to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
2. Double-click the FileSizeLimitinBytes key to modify it:
- If Hexadecimal is selected, make sure the value is set to 2faf080.
- If Decimal is selected, make sure the value is set to 50000000. If that value doesn’t solve the issue, try using 4294967295.
3. Restart your PC. You should now be able to copy the file.
PDF & Adobe Acrobat related issues
I am prompted to enter TaxDome credentials every time I open a PDF in Acrobat
Adobe Acrobat can’t save login and password between sessions, so you’re prompted to enter your TaxDome credentials every time you open a PDF from the TaxDome drive. The simplest solution is to install another PDF reader (go to The 6 Best PDF Readers for Windows in 2019 to find out more), then make that your computer’s default PDF reader . If you’re not able to install it, you can fix the problem by leaving the Acrobat window open (you can do that by closing a separate file in a tab, not the program itself).
I cannot open PDF files from the TaxDome Drive using Acrobat Reader and get an “Access denied” error message
If you're getting the “Access denied” error message when trying to open PDF files from the TaxDome Drive, here’s how to fix it:
1. Navigate to the Edit menu, then click Preferences.
2. Select Security (Enhanced) on the left pane, clear the Enable Protected Mode at startup checkbox, then confirm by clicking Yes.
3. Click Ok to save your changes.

I can’t open a PDF from the TaxDome Drive and get an “Hmmm...Can’t reach this page” error message in Edge
If you’re getting the “ Hmmm...can’t reach this page” error message when trying to open a PDF in your TaxDome Drive, you’re most likely using an outdated Edge browser (the default PDF reader on Windows 10). The simplest solution is to install a new one (go to The 6 Best PDF Readers for Windows in 2019 to find out more), then make that your computer’s default PDF reader. However, if you're not able to install it, you can fix the problem by changing your system settings.
1. Open Internet Explorer by typing internet in your Start menu or by clicking its icon on the task bar.
2. When the Internet Explorer window opens, click the gear icon at the top right, then select Internet options.
3. Go to the Security tab, select Local Intranet, then click the Sites button.
4. In the pop-up window, click Advanced, enter the address of the mapped drive (you can copy it from the Edge error page), then click Add.
5. Click Close, then click OK to save the changes.
Now, the PDF files in your Taxdome Drive will open in Edge.
